Brief Information
K.K.I.P. Power Sdn. Bhd. was incorporated on 10th October 1996 and commenced operations at Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP) on 2nd January 1999.
The Company was established to complement K.K.I.P. Sdn. Bhd., which spearheaded the Government’s industrialisation programme through the development and implementation of KKIP, a comprehensive industrial park covering approximately 3,600 hectares and comprising integrated developments that include industrial zones, commercial and exhibition centres, learning institutions and skills training centres, as well as residential and recreational/tourism areas.
The Company is the sole electricity supply utility responsible for the transmission, distribution, and reticulation of electricity within the KKIP. The distribution licence was first issued on 15th June 1998 with an initial concession period of twenty-one (21) years. The licence was renewed by the Suruhanjaya Tenaga on 24th July 2019 pursuant to Section 9 of the Electricity Supply Act 1990, and subsequently renewed by the Energy Commission of Sabah (ECoS) on 24th July 2024 pursuant to Section 8 of the Electricity Supply Enactment 2024, extending the concession period until 23rd July 2040.
